PLNU volleyball coach Aurora Salas was relieved of her coaching duties during the winter break after four seasons as the head coach.
The decision was made by Athletic Director Carroll Land, who refused to comment on the situation, calling it “a personal and private matter.”
Salas led the team to a 17-13 record last season, including a win over the NAIA’s number one team, but the Sea Lions lost five of their last seven games to eliminate them from national tournament consideration.
In four years as head coach, Salas posted a career record of 63-49 and led the Sea Lions to two national tournament appearances. Salas opted to not remain the coordinator for chapel attendance, a position Nease Hall RD Sherita Lucky filled this week.
Salas, along with many PLNU volleyball players, declined to comment.
