In my freshman year as a broadcast journalism major, I slowly realized that KPLR was considered a laughing stock among students and the communication department.
It’s said that the tradition of “4/20” stems from a 1970s Northern California ritual. Every day at 4:20 p.m., a group of teenagers would smoke the drug. Word spread quickly, and the ritual became an annual — and for some — a daily event. From past to present “4/20” has always been a topic of debate.
